A total 308 illegal migrants were arrested by ICE during President Donald Trump's first full day in office Tuesday (January 21), border czar Tom Homan announced via FOX News.

Herman claimed that ICE was targeting "the worst first" and arrested several "serious criminals" accused of murder, rape and molestation, but noted that "being in the country illegally" would constitute for being removed by the Immigration and Nationality Act.

"In the last twenty-four hours, ICE arrested over 308 serious criminals. Some of them were murderers. Some of them were rapists. Some of them raped a child… ICE is performing excellent right now out in the field, and they're gonna continue every day," Homan said, adding that there are an estimated 700,000 illegal migrants who pose threats to "public safety" in the United States and vowing to restart immigration raids under the new administration.

Trump, who made illegal immigration a key talking point during his successful re-election campaign, declared a national emergency at the southern border during his first day in office on Monday (January 20). The president announced that Homan, a former acting ICE director, would serve as a "border czar" for his new administration in a post shared on his Truth Social account on November 10.
